The lingering incident of strange characters in nuclear families is the subject matter of this novel. Oftentimes, a good-natured couple wakes up to the sad reality that one of its offspring is ill-natured and far out of tune with its collective disposition. It does happen also that some ill-disposed couple sometimes begets a well-inclined offspring. And all this seems to run contrary to the obvious universal principles of "birds of a feather flock together" and "like father like son".
